Originally working as enabling architect to create the spaces for various retail groups, within their existing department stores, allowing Clarins UK to install their skin treatment Spas, the opportunity arose to work directly for Clarins, to aid in the development of a completely new Spa concept alongside their retail designers. These proposals were developed and trialled in three high profile retail sites, with the concept then rolled out through the use of a design guide into many other stores and standalone units. Directly involved in all aspects of this concept, from materials and fittings sourcing, to trialling, detailed layouts, store group liaison/approvals and onsite checks and snagging giving a key insight to the client’s requirements and creating invaluable experience. From these initial site’s implementation, the concept was developed throughout the UK with continual involvement in the design and tendering and leading to the additional role on the designs for the fitout of their new London headquarters and aiding in the ongoing review and development of other new standalone, pop up and brand promotion sites.
Through these detailed and varied works, invaluable expertise was gained in this form of spa concepts and treatment-based spaces, coupled with retail pad and point of sale sites leading to subsequent contact by similar retail clients.
